Q. I heard the mention of why this wasn’t expressed in the combatives program, but I can’t help but want to use it in my training. I sort of lead the group of partners I train the combatives with. So my question has to do with testing videos or live tests. How much conviction do you look for in a video submission, since a slower, technical execution is easier to see on tape? And is that different from live tests? Essentially, just how much conviction should be used to display the level of understanding required to pass the combatives test with a 100 score?

A. Conviction is everything! As a student progresses and their confidence increases, their conviction is going to increase as well. If you believe in your technique, it will show!

Q. This philosophy sounds like It contradicts the survival mindset, but in reality having conviction to survive or wait for your moment to explode connects very well with both the survival mindset and the universal misunderstanding Ryron speaks about. Thank you guys for sharing your wisdom.
