Q. North Step puts a tweak on my south knee as i land. This is the first time that flexibility may effect a GU technique. The GU philosophy is that the moves work for everyone, but some modifications may be needed. Any tips on making this work for me? I also don't want to miss points on a test for a move I feel causes pain. Thank you.

A. An injury can affect your ability to do a technique. Often the key to a move is finding an angle in which to lean that will reduce the need for flexibility. For the north leg to pass over the BG's head, that's usually a south lean.

Q. On the switch step I'm finding it's easier to spin and instead of posting my left hand on their far side, I post on the other side seemingly with no issues. Is this valid? Thanks.

A. Do what works for you!

Q. I have always avoided the arm lock position you end up in after the south step (feet crossed north of the outside arm) due to the ease in which the bottom person can use their outside arm to push both legs north off of the head. Is that concern legitimate and is there a control mechanism the top person can or should do to avoid that?

A. That's a legitimate concern. Awareness is the key!
