Although Gracie Jiu-Jitsu consists of more than 600 techniques, studies of the real fights conducted by members of the Gracie Family show that 36 techniques have been used more often, and with greater success, than all the other techniques combined. Originally developed for the U.S. Army, Gracie Combatives is the only jiu-jitsu program that is entirely dedicated to the mastery of these 36 essential techniques! To this day, Gracie Combatives is the best-selling instructional video program in the history of the Gracie Family.
Why Gracie Combatives Works
What makes the Gracie Combatives video course so effective, is the linear format of the lessons. Unlike other BJJ instructional videos which present techniques in random order, every Gracie Combatives lesson is taught linear fashion so that every lesson builds on the skills acquired in previous lessons. Regardless of your skill level, or lack thereof, you'll never feel confused or overwhelmed, and your confidence and technical proficiency will grow measurably in every single lesson.
The Gracie Combatives Belt Qualification Test
Our goal when we created Gracie Combatives video course wasn't merely to put the information out for people to learn, but rather to create a process through which we could verify that students were actually learning correctly. Through the Gracie University Video Evaluation Process, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your proficiency in all 36 Gracie Combatives techniques via video recordings. These videos will then be uploaded in the Gracie University Online Testing Center where an instructor will evaluate your performance. If your performance meets Gracie University standards, you will earn your Gracie Combatives Belt. If you score exceptionally high on the test, you will qualify to apply for participation in the Gracie University Instructor Certification Program (ICP), where you will learn the skills needed to teach Gracie Combatives and Gracie Bullyproof in your community. Learn more about the Video Evaluation Process by visiting the Gracie University Testing Center.
Over nearly a century, the 36 techniques featured in the Gracie Combatives program have proven to be the simplest and most reliable for street self-defense against a larger opponent. As a result, Gracie Combatives is the most effective video program for new students looking to gain maximum self-defense effectiveness in the least amount of time. But, training for the streets and training for jiu-jitsu competitions are two entirely different things. If your sole training objective is to prepare for point-based BJJ tournaments, this program is not for you. If, on the other hand, you have sport BJJ experience and would like to gain awareness as to the technical and philosophical differences between sport and street applicable jiu-jitsu, and you would like to learn the techniques that you will almost certainly need in a real fight against a more athletic opponent, this program is exacly what you are looking for.
