Lesson 3: Referral Mastery

After nearly 100 years, word-of-mouth is still the most effective marketing tool for Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Roughly 60% of all new students every month at GU HQ come as referrals from existing students.

Lesson 4: Phone Script Success

Everyone remembers two things in their jiu-jitsu journey, the first phone call, and the first class. By implementing a proven phone script for every member of your team, not only will your conversion ratio increase exponentially, but you can create the best first experience possible.

Lesson 5: Student Retention Secrets

Every touch point is a chance to increase your conversion rate and overall student retention. By eagerly testing new scripts, policies and procedures, you will continuously refine your retention rates so that you can help more people stay on the jiu-jitsu path for as long as possible.

Lesson 6: Emergency Retention Tactics

When a student is halfway out the door and ready to retire from jiu-jitsu, here are the things you can do to keep them on the mat!

Lesson 7: Business Management Software

If you aren’t using a Business Management Software to automate your prospect management, student interactions, and billing processes, this lesson will convince you stop whatever you’re doing and take action now! Bottom line, a good software program will be the hardest working and lowest costing employee you...

Lesson 8: Financial Combatives

Steven White run’s a long-standing successful Karate School and also has a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu CTC in Manchester, New Hampshire. He regularly consults with other martial arts school owners to help grow their schools.

Lesson 9: Schedule & Program Optimization

To maximize your CTCs potential, you’ll need to organize your class schedule in the most efficient manner possible. In this lesson, Rener discusses exactly why the GU HQ schedule is organized the way that it is, and CTC owners from around the world share their unique success secrets.

Lesson 10: The 3 Pillars of Customer Service

The quality of each “student experience” at your CTC will be determined by your effort and achievement in three specific categories or “pillars.” In order to attract the quantity and quality of students you need to make your goals become a reality, you must be extraordinary in all three pillars!

Lesson 11: Leadership

Amateur leaders think that their followers work for them; true leaders understand that they work for their followers. To succeed as a martial arts school owner, you’ll need to effectively lead in four pillars.

Lesson 12: Open Mat Discussion

Different CTC leaders talk about their own unique success of running their CTCs.

Lesson 13: Final Thoughts

Although this Business Mastery Course brings together some of the best ideas from some of the most successful CTCs around the world, it’s just a starting point. Just like jiu-jitsu, use the principles from this course to develop your own systems and techniques.

Lead Instructor

Rener Gracie

Gracie University Chief Instructor

Ryron and Rener Gracie are the eldest grandsons of Grand Master Helio Gracie, the creator of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Their father is Rorion Gracie, one of the world’s foremost experts in self-defense. In 1993, Rorion created the Ultimate Fighting Championship to showcase the supremacy of the family’s self-defense system in a realistic “no holds barred” confrontation against all comers. Rorion’s younger brother, Royce, won 3 of the first 4 UFC tournaments proving that the leverage-based techniques of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu provided the most reliable way to defeat a larger, more athletic opponent. Ryron and Rener were born into this family tradition of testing the art against all challengers.

Rorion introduced his sons to the art as soon as they could walk. As children, they watched him teach private classes in their garage in Southern California. But, it wasn’t until they observed their father and uncles – Royce, Rickson, and Royler – easily winning challenge matches that they began to comprehend fully the effectiveness of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Even more important, Ryron and Rener recognized the profound impact the family’s art had on all who studied it. The life changing transformations of Gracie University students motivated the brothers to teach the art. While constantly perfecting their physical techniques, they worked equally hard to master the powerfully effective instruction methods developed by their forbearers. In 2003, Grand Master Helio Gracie awarded Ryron and Rener black belts in recognition of their mastery of his unique techniques and teaching methodologies.
